Frequently Asked Questions

What is Somatic Experiencing® therapy?

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-based approach to healing from stress and trauma. It helps you reconnect with your body’s natural rhythm and capacity to regulate. Instead of re-telling painful stories, we work gently with sensations, movements, and your nervous system’s responses to restore a sense of safety and ease.

How is this different from traditional talk therapy?

In Somatic Experiencing®, your body is part of the conversation. We slow down enough to notice what happens beneath words; the breath, tension, warmth, or movement. These cues guide the work, allowing healing to unfold at the pace your nervous system can truly integrate.

How often will I need sessions?

There’s no one-size-fits-all pace.
Some clients prefer weekly sessions to build consistency and momentum. Others find bi-weekly or monthly sessions more supportive for reflection and integration between meetings. We’ll decide together what feels sustainable and aligned with your goals.

What are Somatic Intensives?

Somatic Intensives are extended, 2–3-hour sessions designed for deeper nervous-system regulation, resourcing, and integration. These are ideal if you:

  • Feel “stuck” in therapy and want space for breakthrough work

  • Prefer focused support without weekly scheduling

  • Are processing a significant event or transition

Intensives allow more time for titration, for moving gently between activation and regulation, so your system can settle instead of feeling rushed.

How do I know if Somatic Experiencing® is right for me?

You might be drawn to SE if you’ve tried talk therapy but still feel dysregulated, disconnected, or “stuck in your head.” It can be especially helpful for:

  • Anxiety, burnout, or chronic stress

  • Recovering from trauma

  • Feeling disconnected from joy, rest, or your body

  • Clients who already have a somatic foundation and want to deepen their regulation skills

If you’re unsure, we can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to explore whether this approach feels right.

Can therapy really move this slowly and still work?

Yes. Slowing down is part of the medicine. Your body needs time to notice safety, release survival energy, and integrate new experiences. This isn’t about “fixing” quickly, it’s about helping your system remember how to self-regulate naturally.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes, all sessions are offered online through a secure telehealth platform, allowing you to meet from your own safe space anywhere in California or Nevada.
